Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to sell products on the Internet today. It has grown considerably since the concept of reselling began with Amazon back in 1996 when it started with its associate program. It is continually growing and thriving as many more marketers join the affiliate bandwagon. In the beginning, many internet users were skeptical about affiliate marketing because of the propensity of affiliates to use spam to advertise the programs to which they were affiliated. However, these days as affiliate marketing has advanced, many affiliate merchants have developed their terms and conditions to alleviate this problem. There will never be a shortage of merchants to join an affiliate program, as more and more come online. It can be a very lucrative way of making money online and indeed has earned many affiliate marketers a very good income. An affiliate marketer is someone who sells other peoples products for a commission. The amounts paid in commission will vary from merchant to merchant. Some people do nothing other than affiliate marketing as it is a ready made product that requires no work on the actual goods concerned apart from marketing. Affiliate marketing is a joint venture whereby each party working jointly can build them a lucrative and ongoing business. The benefits to the merchant that offers the affiliate program is that they do not pay any commission to the affiliate marketer until results have been achieved. Other benefits for the merchant include overall control of their specific affiliate program and their terms and conditions. Other affiliate marketers use affiliate programs to enhance their own website products or compliment them. Many have information sites only and have affiliate advertising implemented to gain revenue from affiliate sales commissions. Whilst there are numerous merchants that offer their own affiliate program, there are many affiliate networks that have a directory of merchants who are willing to use affiliate marketers to promote and sell their products. Affiliate networks act as a third party between the merchant and its affiliates – they also collect the commissions due to the affiliate marketers from the merchants. Affiliate marketing is an exceedingly beneficial pact for both the merchant and the affiliate. The merchant obtains additional exposure and sales without incurring extra costs except for commissions due when sales are made. The Affiliate marketer doesn’t have to have a website (with all of the related tasks that goes with it such as creating sales copy) to participate in affiliate marketing. All the hard work of creating or producing the goods has been done by the merchant. It can be achieved purely from advertising and an affiliate can join as many different affiliate programs they desire. The more affiliate programs that you join, the more money you can make for yourself. There is a wealth of various types of products and services that can be sold as an affiliate marketer. On the whole, affiliate marketing can be a very profitable way for the merchant to increase their business and an economical and speedy way for an affiliate to start their own venture.
