Google AdSense Explained

Google AdSense could be one of the quickest and simplistic routes to monetize traffic to your website, regardless of whether you have products or services for sale or your site just offers free information to your visitors. Do check Google’s Policies for what website content is deemed unsuitable or illegal for AdSense.

In simple terms, Google AdSense provides code with which the webmaster enters on their site which connects to Google’s ad server content database and retrieves keyword related advertising onto your web pages.

A percentage of the fee that Google receives from the advertiser each time a visitor clicks on an advert is paid to the webmaster. To take part in AdSense is free for the webmaster. All costs are paid by the advertiser that is part of the “AdWords” (sister program of AdSense).

Digital robots are sent to the host website pages to analyze the content in order to establish which keywords are relevant. The robots then report its conclusion back to Google’s ad server who then serves ads that go with those keywords.

Getting started using Google AdSense

Visit Google AdSense site and familiarise yourself with their Acceptable Use Policy. It is important that you read it thoroughly and adhere to their policies; you will be thrown out of the programme if you break any of their rules.

To sign up with Google AdSense is a very easy procedure, just fill in a simple form stating your website URL, preference on which account you want (business or individual), contact details, choose product:

AdSense for Content – This is for webmasters who wish to add targeted advertising to their website.

AdSense for Search – This is for publishers who wish to add a Google search box to their website and deliver targeted advertising to the search results pages.

Agree to their policies; create a log in using a valid regularly accessed email address. Once your application has been approved; you will receive a link to get some basic html code to insert into your website using your html editor and you will be ready to go.

Google AdSense Revenue

The revenue created by using Google AdSense can be potentially endless, of course this will depend on the amount of traffic that you receive to your site, the amount of visitor clicks on your ads and the amount you acquire for each ad per generated click.

Some ads attract a good monetary return and generating decent earnings with AdSense is achievable. There are people who are making an excellent living from this programme. With practice, you could be in the same position once you’ve gained experience.
